Shock Host ‘Showdown’ Matchup and Community Events in STL Ahead of MLP DC Event

St. Louis, MO — The St. Louis Shock, the number one ranked team in Major League Pickleball’s standings, will host a Showdown exhibition and week of community events in St. Louis ahead of MLP’s upcoming event in Washington DC. Events will start Monday June 10th and conclude Thursday June 13th, when the team heads to Washington DC to defend their lead atop MLP’s standings.

The week of events will be headlined by a matchup against the Chicago Slice, an MLP Midwest rival, in the Shock vs. Slice Showdown. The Showdown is the first of an annual “Home-and-Home” series between the two teams, taking place at Missouri Pickleball Club (MPC) on Wednesday, June 12th at 6PM. The Home-and-Home series is a first for any MLP teams, and ensures continuous matchups and ignites a recurring rivalry with another top Midwest MLP foe. GA tickets and VIP packages will be offered to see the top pickleball players in the world go toe-to-toe. Tickets are extremely limited and can be found on at www.mopickleballclub.com and linked through the Shock’s Instagram (@STLSHOCKMLP).

The Shock are planning a variety of other community engagements and activations, including a behind the- scenes tour and private experience with Saint Louis University Men’s Basketball, who is making Top 25 pre-season waves following the signing of head coach Josh Schertz, Top 5 NCAA Transfer Robbie Avila and returning three-point leader Gibson Jimerson. They also plan an extensive media, broadcast, and radio slate and will hold practices and play-with-the-pro experiences at Missouri Pickleball Club the 11th- 13th. MPC, which is renowned as one of the best pickleball facilities in the Midwest, will serve as the
exclusive home of the Shock during these dates.

“This is an incredibly exciting time for pickleball in St. Louis. We are thrilled that the Shock currently sit atop the MLP standings as the #1 pickleball team in the world. Fans in Missouri have been incredibly eager to get a chance to see the Shock live, and we couldn’t be more excited to announce this week of events and ignite a new, recurring rivalry with our friends at the Chicago Slice”, said Ross Chaifetz, Owner and General Manager of the St. Louis Shock.

Capping off the week, the Shock then head to Washington DC on Friday the 14th for highly anticipated matchups on Saturday the 15th and Sunday the 16th, which include a faceoff with the Seattle Pioneers, featuring world number one male player Ben Johns.
