STL Shock Dominates Major League Pickleball Atlanta, Sits Atop MLP Standings

Atlanta, GA – The St. Louis Shock sliced through Major League Pickleball competition at MLP Atlanta, delivering a series of standout performances that has them perched atop MLP as the #1 team in Premier Level standings, and the team to beat in the 2024 season. Crushing wins and electric gameplay left the crowds energized for the Shock, who sit four points ahead of the #2 team in Major League Pickleball’s standings with a record of 4-1.

The Shock made their season debut Friday, May 10th, facing off against the Texas Ranchers in a highly anticipated matchup. Standout performances from Anna Bright, Kate Fahey, Hayden Patriquin, and Gabriel Tardio opened the Shock up to a quick 3-0 lead, which secured the victory and the 3 points associated with the win, generating immediate buzz across Twitter and Instagram that the Shock’s energy was untouchable.

On Saturday May 11th, an early, intense battle with the LA Mad Drops led to the Shock edging the prior MLP Champion Mad Drops in a hard-fought 3-2 victory. Later that day, the Shock continued their winning streak with a commanding 3-1 victory over the Orlando Squeeze which led the Shock to a 3-0 start in season play and solidifying their status as the team to beat.

Sunday May 12th, the Shock met a battle-hardened D.C. Pickleball Team which featured Shock superstar Anna Bright’s PPA mixed and gender partners, James Ignatowich and Rachel Rohrabacher. Each game was a back and forth battle, but the shock fell in the last DreamBreaker game that either team could have grasped. The matchup established an immediate rivalry that will playout throughout 2024 and beyond.

Later in the day, the Shock faced off against the Arizona Drive which features top mens duo Andrei Daescu and Dylan Frazier. The shock cut through the Drive and swept them in decisive fashion in a 4-0 sweep of an Arizona team that many had as a top three pre-season team.

"Our performance in Atlanta was absolutely electric. The on- and off-court chemisty that this team has is totally unmatched in MLP,” said Shock Owner & General Manager Ross Chaifetz. "Our team carries a swagger and energy that has us already recognized as the team to beat this season – and our #1 spot in the standings reflects this. We are undeniably the #1 pickleball team in the world right now.”

The St. Louis Shock currently leads the Major League Pickleball Premier Standings, and is undeniably the team to beat at MLP’s next event in Washington, DC June 13-16.
